Located in Burlington County, New Jersey, JB MDL combines the legacy of three significant military sites: McGuire Air Force Base, Fort Dix, and Naval Air Engineering Station Lakehurst. Fort Dix, originally named after Major General John Adams Dix, was established as a key training and staging center during World War I and grew into the largest military reservation in the Northeast. Officially becoming a permanent Army post in 1939, it served as a major Basic Training Center from 1947 to 1988.Today, JB MDL is a hub of military and civilian activity, supporting over 46,000 service members, their families, and civilians. Its rich history and ongoing contributions to military readiness make it a vital and influential base, blending historical significance with modern strategic importance.
